Applications open for travel funding to attend GDC 2025

Screenwest has opened a competitive travel round to support WA games studios and developers attending the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025, taking place in San Francisco from 17-21 March. Applications close Monday, 13 January 2025 at 5:00PM AWST.

Screenwest and NITV join forces on ‘Big Backyard Quiz’ to grow the WA First Nations screen sector

The 10-part cheeky quiz show will inject a flurry of excitement and economic activity into Perth in early 2025. Thanks to Screenwest’s support, NITV will be offering a select number of guaranteed roles for Western Australian First Nations crew members.

Screenwest launches the Targeted Industry Capacity Building Program

The program is designed to fill industry capacity gaps in longform scripted drama to better service growing production levels in the State. The program calls for bold ideas to increase the capacity in unit, lighting, gripping/rigging and catering. Applications close Thursday, 6 February 2025 at 5:00pm AWST.

Screenwest doubles down on local talent and local stories with a quarter of a million dollars increase to West Coast Visions

As of 2025, Screenwest’s West Coast Visions funding will increase to $1 million, thanks to ongoing support from Lotterywest and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

This fund supports Western Australia documentary production companies who offer paid on the job training opportunities to local screen practitioners. Screenwest is offering companies up to $50,000 in this one-off initiative to boost workforce capacity in the sector. Screenwest launches a new Industry Development Fund for Workshops and Masterclasses

The fund supports the delivery of professional skills development opportunities for Western Australian screen practitioners. Applicants can receive funding for courses, workshops and/or masterclasses that address identified industry skills gaps. Applications close Monday, 18 November 2024 at 5:00pm AWST.

Screenwest has updated its Scripted Production and Footloose guidelines based on industry feedback and the evolving needs of the local sector. Screenwest is inviting scripted practitioners to a Q&A webinar on 11 October, giving WA creatives the opportunity to learn about the revisions to the guidelines.
