Applicants must be a company with the rights to produce the Project, or be a company engaged to facilitate or provide PDV services on eligible Projects.

The Project must:

• Be a scripted or factual feature film; or a scripted or factual television one-off/series for television broadcast or streaming platform.
• Have bona fide Market Attachment for the commercial release or distribution of the Project at the time of application.
• Have a minimum PDV QWAE threshold of AUD$100,000.
• Ensure the budget includes at least the minimum Australian industry award pay rates or agreed guild pay rates for industry practitioners working in Western Australia.
• Not have commenced WA PDV work prior to Screenwest WA PDV pre-approval being received.

Applicants with eligible WA PDV Projects may also be eligible for Screenwest Documentary Production Fund, Scripted Production Fund, Footloose Production Fund and/or Western Australian Regional Screen Fund (WARSF) funding.

The WA PDV amount is calculated at 20% of the PDV QWAE.

Eligible applications will be assessed using the following criteria:

• Economic: The economic outcomes delivered by the Project for Western Australia.
• Attraction: Potential of the funds to enable the PDV work to occur in Western Australian, rather than interstate or internationally.
• Industry development: The Project’s ability to build the capacity of the Western Australian PDV sector.
• Strategic alignment: The opportunity to position Western Australia as an attractive destination for post services, globally.
• Funding: Availability of our funds.

Applicants must apply for pre-approval to determine whether their Project is eligible for the WA PDV. If successful, we will provide a pre-approval letter outlining the amount you are eligible to receive at the end of production.

How to apply for pre-approval

• Submit the online application form in SmartyGrants.
• Upload all required documents and supporting materials.

After you apply

• Applications are reviewed to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements above.
• Your application will be assessed by a panel of Screenwest management and/or Screenwest board and WA State Government representatives, against the assessment criteria.
• We will notify Applicants of the outcome of their application by email or phone within 10 weeks after application submission.

PDV QWAE must:

• Not exceed the actual amounts paid by the production company.
• Be net of any investment by the service provider or related party.
• Qualify as eligible activities under the Australian Federal PDV Offset.
• Relate to work provided by a Western Australian resident post-production company**, or sole trader, owned, and operated at arm’s length from the Producer and Production Company responsible for the production.
