Western Australian Post-Production, Digital & Visual Effects Incentive (WA PDV)
The WA Production Attraction Incentive is designed to attract high profile, market driven footloose screen productions to Western Australia. The incentive offers production funding of a minimum of 10% of the project’s Qualifying Western Australian Expenditure.
This incentive is open to all Australian and international producers, production companies and studios
with screen projects that:
- Spend a minimum of $3.5million on Qualifying Western Australian Expenditure (QWAE).
- Consideration will be given to international productions that do not meet this threshold that can demonstrate significant benefit to Western Australia, in line with State Government Strategic Priorities.
- Are footloose (there is satisfactory evidence of genuine interstate or international destination alternatives).
- Have genuine marketplace interest for commercial release or distribution of the project. Applications for Production Attraction must be approved prior to the commencement of production.
Prior to applying, read these guidelines and check your eligibility.
- Discuss your application with the Screenwest Program Contact person.
- Apply through the Screenwest SmartyGrants online portal.
- An application link will be emailed by the Screenwest Contact person.
After you Submit:
- A panel consisting of Screenwest Management and Board and a combination of WA State Government and industry representatives, as required, will assess the application.
- Funding recommendations will be presented to the full Screenwest Board for endorsement and WA State Government for final approval.
- The assessment process will take 4-6 weeks.
Eligible projects will be assessed against the following criteria:
- Economic Outcomes – the overall economic benefit of the project to Western Australia.
- Industry Outcomes – employment and capacity building opportunities for the Western Australian screen industry from the project being produced in Western Australia.
- Strategic Alignment – the opportunity to position Western Australia globally.
- Community Outcomes – the opportunity for the project to deliver increased activity and opportunity to Western Australian based businesses and the wider community.
