West Coast Visions 2026 open for applications

Screenwest and Screen Australia are pleased to announce applications for West Coast Visions – Scripted are open.

West Coast Visions is designed to uncover, inspire and develop talented and motivated WA filmmakers with distinctive visions to produce their debut feature film in Western Australia.

The successful filmmaking team receives up to a total of $1,000,000 production funding from Screenwest together with a $500,000 pre-commitment in equity from Screen Australia, giving them a strong start and a confident path to production.

“West Coast Visions is such an incredible opportunity – it has not only launched the professional careers of many Western Australian creatives and crew but has also showcased WA talent and stories to the world, helping build the local screen industry’s strong reputation,” said Tenille Kennedy, Screenwest Head of Scripted: Talent and Content.

“West Coast Visions has proven to be a key talent escalation program for emerging filmmakers, and I look forward to seeing the vision of the 2026 recipient brought to life.” said Louise Gough, Screen Australia Director of Narrative Content.

Since its inception in 2005, 12 West Coast Visions films have been produced in WA, with many being distributed to audiences globally and receiving critical acclaim.

Prawn Curry Christmas written by Yasmin Karrim and directed by Charmaine Murray was announced as the 2025 West Coast Visions recipient and is set to head into production in 2026. The 2024 recipient End to End wrapped production last month.

2023 recipient Proclivitas, written and directed by Miley Tunnecliffe and produced by Kate Separovich and 2022 recipient Birthright, written and directed by Zoe Pepper and produced by Cody Greenwood, had their world premieres at SXSW Sydney and Tribeca Film Festival in New York respectively. Both films are set to hit Australian cinemas in 2026.
