Screenwest is pleased to announce two paid Assembly Editor Attachments are available for two Western Australian screen practitioners through the Screenwest Crew Attachment Program on an upcoming factual television series Rookie Truckers based in Perth. Applications close Friday, 30 May 2025 at 5:00pm.
Rookie Truckers follows the next generation of gritty Australian truck drivers as they attempt to master one of the toughest and most dangerous jobs in the world.

Role: Assembly Editor Attachment
1st Attachment Dates: 23 June – 1 August 2025
2nd Attachment Dates: 4 August – 12 September 2025
Location: Perth
Production Company: Prospero Productions
The successful candidates will complete six consecutive weeks as a paid Assembly Editor Attachment under the expert guidance of Offline Editor Jonathan Rowdon where you will:
- Gain an understanding of the role and responsibilities of an Assembly Editor in observational documentary
- Gain insight into post-production workflows and stages of the editing process
- Work with the offline editor, providing markups on rushes.
- Have the opportunity to assemble a scene and receive direct feedback/ notes from your mentor.
- Develop an understanding of the purpose of the Offline Editor, including how they work with the Series Producer and Post-Director on editorial feedback from Executive Producers.
- Organise and source archive for editors and production team.
- Source, ingest, and organise music from music libraries based on the styles and genres requested by the Series Producer and Mentor.
- Provide feedback to the Edit Assist team on any technical problems with footage and assist in fixing these.
- Sit in on and contribute to weekly post team meetings regarding media management.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
If the right candidate cannot be found for this role, the attachment may be offered in another department.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to the requirements in the Screenwest Crew Attachment Guidelines and Screenwest Terms of Trade, the successful applicant will possess:
- Experience using Avid
- Basic understanding of Post-Production workflows
- Interest in working as an Offline Editor for broadcast in the future
- Ability to take direction and feedback from Series Producer and Post-Director
- Willingness to work collaboratively with the production management team
Special consideration will be given to applicants with:
- prior experience in broadcast TV
- an interest in working in documentary/ factual storytelling
- experience working with shared media storage systems
