Stars walk the blue carpet in Perth at an exclusive preview screening of Population 11

A touch of Hollywood swept over Perth on Sunday, with Population 11 stars Ben Feldman (Superstore, Mad Men [Emmy® nominee], Silicon Valley) and Perry Mooney (Gold Diggers, Troppo) joining cast, creatives, crew and Western Australian screen industry guests for a preview screening of the brand new Stan Original Series.

Stan’s blue carpet was rolled out for an audience of over 300 at Luna Cinemas in Leederville, ahead of the comedic crime thriller’s premiere on the streaming service this Thursday.

Filmed in the WA town of Derby and inspired by true events, Population 11 is a 12-part series about a man, Hugo who goes missing from a tiny outback town of only 12 residents, and his estranged son (played by Feldman), who journeys from the US to find him.

The first premium scripted series from a major streaming platform produced in Western Australia, Population 11 marks the first Stan Original Series produced in the State and the first WA series to be distributed internationally by Lionsgate.

The series is also the first WA production for multi-award-winning production company, Jungle Entertainment. Jungle partner and Population 11 series creator and showrunner, Phil Lloyd walked the blue carpet at Sunday’s event, along with Jungle producer Bridget Callow-Wright.

Phil and Bridget joined Ben, Perry, WA producer Melissa Kelly, and WA series director Ben Young for a pre-screening Q&A, treating the audience to behind-the-scenes anecdotes and insights into filming experience in the Kimberley region.

Population 11 premieres on Stan this Thursday, 14 March 2024. Watch the trailer here.

Production Credit: Population 11 is a Stan Original Series produced by Jungle Entertainment in association with Factor 30 Films, with major production investment from Screenwest, Lotterywest and the Western Australian Regional Screen Fund and international sales by Lionsgate.
