A paid six-week Sound Recordist attachment is available for a local WA screen practitioner through the Screenwest BTL Crew Capacity Program. The attachment will be working on a documentary series based in Denham, WA.

Responsibilities
If successful, under the expert guidance of Sound Recordist Owen Hughes; the candidate will:
- Shadow and assist the sound recordist on a documentary series shoot.
- Gain insight into the role, essential equipment, and operating sound gear across varied environments.
- Collaborate with department heads, crew, and talent.
- Learn best practices for wrangling and backing up audio files.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
If the right candidate cannot be found for this role, the attachment may be offered in another department.
The Production Company will select the successful applicant. Screenwest provides administration support.
Key Requirements
In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements in the BTL Crew Capacity Program – Applicant Guidelines and Screenwest Terms of Trade, you must have:
- Passion for the technical elements of documentary storytelling.
- An eagerness to learn and an openness to guidance and feedback.
- A composed and calm demeanour, especially in dynamic or high-pressure environments.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and interpersonal.
- An ability to work on aquatic vessels in open water.
Special consideration will be given to applicants who have/are:
- Local/regional candidates.
- Some knowledge of the gear used for on-location sound recording.
