Western Australian production, Birthright, will bask in the spotlight of this month’s Tribeca and Sydney film festivals, just days after the film’s trailer dropped.
Filmed in the Perth Hills, Birthright will make its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in New York with three screenings from 5-7 June, before showing at the Sydney Film Festival from 12-14 June.

Written and directed by Zoe Pepper (Lift, The Big Spaghetti) and produced by Cody Greenwood (Otto by Otto, Under the Volcano, Girl Like You), Birthright is a darkly twisted thriller comedy about a disillusioned generation and their chase for the success of their baby boomer parents.
The film was made possible by Screenwest’s highly coveted West Coast Visions initiative which is designed to uncover, inspire and develop talented and motivated WA filmmakers with distinctive visions to produce their debut feature film in WA.
Birthright Producer Cody Greenwood said: “We’re so excited to have our film, written and directed by the amazing Zoe Pepper, screening at Sydney Film Festival. It is an honour to be a part of a festival that is so dedicated to showcasing new voices. We can’t wait to introduce Birthright to Australian audiences.”

Birthright stars Travis Jeffery (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Unbroken, Gallipoli) and Maria Angelico (The Newsreader, Strife, Sisters) together with Linda Cropper (Offspring, Upgrade) and Michael Hurst (Hercules, Spartacus).
