Hit series ‘Aussie Gold Hunters’ unstoppable as Season 10 commissioned by Warner Bros. Discovery

Screenwest is pleased to announce Warner Bros. Discovery UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand have commissioned Season 10 of the hit series Aussie Gold Hunters from WA production company Electric Pictures, ahead of the highly-anticipated Season 8 hitting Australian screens on Discovery Channel on Thursday, 22 February 2024.

This wildly successful factual series has been broadcast in more than 140 countries and is one of Warner Bros. Discovery’s highest rating Australian commissions.

The new seasons promise more excitement and gold-hunting adventures as prospectors and small-scale gold miners on their quest for gold in some of the most extreme wilderness of Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland.

As Season 8 prepares to hit screens in February 2024, Season 9 is completing post-production and Season 10 is commencing casting ahead of kicking of production in the new year.

The Electric Pictures team is seeking passionate gold hunters in Western Australia with unique stories to share. Individuals who embody the true spirit of Aussie Gold Hunting are invited to be part of this internationally acclaimed series and share their compelling stories with a global audience. For those ready to seize the golden opportunity, the application portal is now live at goldhuntercasting.com.

“It is especially gratifying to have reached this milestone.  Over its lifetime Aussie Gold Hunters has been home for many talented filmmakers and on-screen contributors who have made this format such a success. Every year the series evolves, and in its latest evolution we introduce exciting new characters and stories, some subtle but very effective story format changes, as well as a major technical upgrade.  Season 9 really pops, and the fans are going to love it!  We will take it to the next level with Season 10.” said Andrew Ogilvie, Electric Pictures CEO.

“It’s fantastic to see the global success of Aussie Gold Hunters year after year. We’ve loved seeing a WA-made series find such a massive audience nationally and internationally. Congrats to Electric Pictures on the commission of Season 10!” said Rikki Lea Bestall, Screenwest CEO.

“Over the last decade, we’ve seen audiences globally really respond to Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ’s stories from Down Under; showcasing home-grown stories of colourful and proud local characters and their ‘strike it rich’ adventures. We’re thrilled to be returning for another season of Aussie Gold Hunters; continuing to explore the powerful lure of the Australian outback for local and international audiences alike.” said Vicki Keogh, Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ Senior Director Commissioning.

Aussie Gold Hunters is produced by Electric Pictures, which continues to be one of Australia’s most prolific producers of factual programming. Established in 1992 by CEO Andrew Ogilvie, Electric Pictures has earned a reputation as a premium producer of high-quality content for some of the world’s biggest broadcasters.

Aussie Gold Hunters Season 8 commences on Discovery Channel in Australia on Thursday, 22 February at 7:30pm.

Production credit: Aussie Gold Hunters Seasons 8 and 9 have been supported by Screenwest, Lotterywest and the Western Australian Regional Screen Fund.
