Charles Kobelke appointed to the Screenwest Board

Senior media and marketing leader Charles Kobelke has been appointed to the Screenwest Board.

Charles brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across media, commercial strategy, stakeholder engagement, marketing and organisational transformation to Screenwest, Western Australia’s not-for-profit screen industry funding and industry development organisation.

As Chief Executive Officer of independent media company Business News, he has expanded its audience, commercial performance, digital capabilities and strategic events portfolio while strengthening its position as a trusted and independent voice within the state.

Prior to Business News, Charles held senior leadership roles with BMW and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA. He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAIDC) and is a sought-after speaker, moderator and industry connector.

Screenwest Chair Phil Thick said, “On behalf of the Screenwest Board I am delighted to announce Charles’ appointment. Charles brings a wealth of leadership expertise across modern media, data and events. I look forward to working with Charles as we continue to drive screen industry growth, supporting local talent and business.”

Charles Kobelke said, “I’ve long believed that stories shape how people see themselves, their communities and their future. Screenwest delivers vital support and funding to ensure that our local stories shine on the global stage, and I’m proud to be appointed to the Board.”

Charles Kobelke joins current Screenwest Board members John Atkins AO, Anni Browning, Emma Drummond, Annie Fogarty AM, Susan Hunt AM PSM, Michael Scott, Sue Taylor, Donna Oxenham and Chair Phil Thick.

Screenwest’s Board of Directors are responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation and its governance. The Board brings a diverse and extensive set of skills, knowledge and experiences to the organisation and WA screen industry.
