Applications open for travel funding to attend the AUSTRALIAN FEATURE FILM FORUM

Screenwest has opened a competitive round to provide travel funding to a limited number of WA filmmakers to attend the Australian Feature Film Forum, taking place during the Australian International Movie Convention on the Gold Coast from 31 October – 2 November 2023.

The Australian Feature Film Forum aims to close the gap between filmmakers and the theatrical marketplace and facilitate a valuable information exchange between the often-siloed filmmaker, distributor and exhibitor sectors.

Focusing primarily on the scripted feature, the forum will involve several components including panels, pitch forums, screenings, and guest speakers. The Australian Feature Film Group (AFFG) will be in attendance, made up of representatives from the production, exhibition, and distribution sectors, as well as representatives of screen agencies, associations and guilds.

About Australian Feature Film Forum 2023 travel funding

Successful applicants will receive up to $1,500 to assist with flights, registration and accommodation. A discounted ticket link can be found here.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Must be a Western Australian screen practitioner and meet the general eligibility requirements set out in the Screenwest Terms of Trade.
  • Applicants must hold the underlying rights to 1-3 feature projects in development with strong market potential OR genuine market interest.
  • Must be currently working in the feature film space and hold relevant credits.

Applications will be assessed against the Screenwest Travel Support Guidelines criteria.

Only one representative per screen project, company or organisation is eligible to receive support. As this is a competitive round, support is not assured even where an applicant meets all the minimum eligibility criteria.

First Nations practitioners and practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

How to Apply

Applications can be made through Screenwest’s SmartyGrants portal.

Applications close Monday, 25 September 2023 at 5:00pm AWST.
