A paid assistant editor attachment is available for a Western Australian screen practitioner through the Screenwest BTL Crew Capacity Program. The attachment will be working on a feature length documentary.

About the Attachment
Dates: 10 weeks part-time on Tues/Wed/Thurs, commencing Tuesday 25 August 2026, with the end date to be agreed with the successful candidate.
Location: Booragoon, Perth
Production Company: Periscope Pictures
Responsibilities: Under the expert guidance of Assistant Editor Neda Rahbar you will get:
- Hands on experience working on a fast pace post production workflow for Observational Documentary.
- Gain experience by managing media and transcoding footage to be used in editorial.
- Gain experience liaising with the camera and sound department.
- Acquire organisation skills to track and manage high volume of footage.
- Gain experience using Avid Media Composer to prepare media for editing stage.
- Learn to customise Avid workflow and tools to maximize creative output.
- Interact with a post production team in a professional setting.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
If the right candidate cannot be found for this role, the attachment may be offered in another department.
The Production Company will select the successful applicant. Screenwest provides administration support.
Key Requirements
In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements in the BTL Crew Capacity Program – Applicant Guidelines and Screenwest Terms of Trade, you must have:
- Strong Interest to pursue a career in Post Production
- Good knowledge of computer technology and experience using Avid Media Composer software
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good work ethic and attention to detail
- Problem solving attitude and desire to learn.
Special consideration will be given to applicants who have:
- Completed a tertiary education in Film and TV
- Include a showreel showcasing previous Post Production experience
