Calling WA First Nations Screen Practitioners
Screenwest is inviting input from Western Australian First Nations screen practitioners to help review and improve our First Nations funding programs.
Screenwest is seeking input from Western Australian First Nations screen practitioners to help review our First Nations funding programs and ensure they remain relevant, accessible, and impactful.
As part of this process, we are reviewing the following programs:
Guided by the Screenwest First Nations Screen Strategy 2024-28, our objectives are to:
- Build relevant pathways to advance WA First Nations screen talent and businesses.
- Facilitate connections, communication, and opportunities for First Nations screen practitioners across the screen sector.
- Support and promote WA First Nations screen voices and truth telling.
Consultation will take place in two stages:
- Online Survey
- WA Indigenous Filmmakers (WAIFs) meeting / Workshop, informed by the survey responses.
Online Survey
WA First Nations screen practitioners are invited to share their experiences and feedback by completing the anonymous survey below. Your feedback will inform our review and help ensure our funding programs effectively support the local sector.
The survey closes on Monday, 3 November 2025 at 5pm AWST.
WAIFs Meeting/Workshop
WA First Nations screen practitioners are invited to join Screenwest for a WAIFs meeting/workshop. The workshop will outline the high-level themes from the survey and explore how potential decisions around funding levels, incentives, eligibility and processes can lead to stronger outcomes for the First Nations screen sector.
