Screenwest is bringing back the First Nations VR Documentary Initiative, which recently supported two WA filmmaking teams to create immersive documentaries exploring First Nations Truth-Telling.
Filmmakers are invited to attend an online information session for the next edition of the initiative.
The special initiative, made possible with financial support from Lotterywest, is designed to uncover distinctive WA First Nations voices, support career development and encourage exploration of new storytelling formats and markets.
Stage One – Online Information Session
The three-hour workshop will cover the methods and technology required to make short VR documentaries.
It will be facilitated by new media artist duo Ben Joseph Andrews & Emma Roberts, whose work includes some of the largest VR installations in Australia including Gondwana (Sundance, SxSW, South Australian Museum, MIT Open Documentary Lab, CPH:DOX) and the multi-award-winning Turbulence: Jamais Vu, which won the IDFA DocLab award for Best Immersive/Interactive in 2023 and went on to screen in Venice Film Festival’s Best of VR program.
