Applications now open for Screenwest travel support to Content London 2022

Screenwest has announced a special travel round to provide a limited number of Western Australian screen producers with funding support to attend Content London 2022.

Content London is the world’s leading television development marketplace and conference. Running from 28 November – 1 December 2022 in London, it brings the global drama, formats and factual communities together with a conference, awards and networking agenda.

Content London encompasses The International Drama Summit, Screenings and Awards, Formats & Factual Forum and Kids Content Futures.

The funding aims to assist Western Australian screen producers, who have a commitment to producing television, with international knowledge, interest, investment, and relationships for their Australian IP and cultural stories.

Successful applicants will have the option of additional support to attend the Screen Producers Australia (SPA) online Taking Your Scripted TV Project to Market course (11 & 12 October 2022). Should successful applicants wish to utilise this additional support, they must be available to attend this two-day course online on the specified days.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for funding support for Content London, applicants must:

  • Be a Western Australian resident producer and meet the general eligibility requirements set out in the Screenwest Terms of Trade.
  • Have their own IP, and a robust slate of scripted and/or factual series that are ready to pitch.
  • Have a credit as a producer on a completed scripted drama, comedy, children’s series, or factual series, with evidence of significant traction and/or views.
  • Be available to attend Content London in person from November 28 – 1 December 2022.
  • Supply a well-considered market strategy plan, including a list of companies you will target for your projects.

Practitioners that can demonstrate how attending Content London this year will progress their project(s) to finance in 2023 will be prioritised.

As this is a competitive round, support is not assured even where an applicant meets all the minimum eligibility criteria. Screenwest will only enable one representative per film project, company or organisation to receive support. Screenwest will endeavour to support at least one emerging practitioner and up to three First Nations practitioners who meet the criteria.

Successful applicants will have access to Screen Australia’s discounted registrations for Content London 2022. This will be available to Australian practitioners on a first come/first served basis, on offer until 14 October 2022.

The Screen Australia Umbrella Discount is £719 + VAT (vs standard cost of £1,299 + VAT), with this discount only available to companies incorporated and carrying on business in Australia. To access it please visit the C21Media website.

How to apply

Applications will be accepted through the Screenwest SmartyGrants portal.

Applications will be competitively assessed against the following criteria:

  • The applicant’s track record.
  • Quality and marketability of submitted projects.
  • Applicant’s understanding of each project’s market potential, the quality of their market strategy including list of intended meetings, and any market interest already in place.
